NOTE: According to the Physician's Report in the Tenth Annual Report of the Trustees and Superintendent of the Indiana Institution for Educating the Deaf & Dumb, to the Governor (Indianapolis: State Printer, 1853), Daniel Minick was the only fatality in an outbreak of measles at the school.
